NYSCF Collaborates with RMRDC

The collaboration between the NYSC Foundation and the Raw Materials Research & Development Council (RMRDC) is waxing stronger by the day as we are very delighted to launch a competition among corps members. The project tagged “Process Equipment Design/Commercialization & Entrepreneurship Competition for Corps Members”, is targeted at Engineering graduates, with a view to encouraging them to venture into process design that are innovative and capable of adding value.

Scope of Design/Proposal

The equipment/process design includes (but not limited to):

  • Dryers, milling equipment, Mixer, Reactors, Cyclone, Sieves distillation, Centrifuges filters press among others.
  • Process improvement
  • Development of secondary raw materials from local resources.

This competition is planned to also encourage corps members to establish SMEs around their areas of expertise, which include their final year project.  It is also to encourage corps members to develop skill in value-addition to local raw material through process equipment design and fabrication or commercialization of their final research findings.

The winners of this laudable initiative would go a long way to positively affect the lives of corps members and increase their sense of reasoning/creativity while adding value to the economy of the country.

It is expected that the competition will increase their sense of reasoning and creativity and the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) of the competition will be rewarded with cash prizes to assist them to establish the winning projects.  In addition to this, the design can as well attract sponsorship.

The 2022 Batch “B” corps members will be the first beneficiaries of this great project.  The corps members during their NYSC Orientation exercise will be sensitized to enter the design or submit proposal on their completed final year project/thesis or fresh ideas on process design on local raw materials.

The competition will be a continuous exercise as entries is expected from every batch of corps members while entry for every batch will close two months after orientation camp exercise.
